Island Expedition

Buck Island is rumored to have an illusive cave with ancient Indian petroglyphs. Kevin and I, with the Indiana Jones theme song playing in our heads, set off after work in search of adventure.
The south end of the island has a nice wind shadow to park the boat.

We didn’t know where to start, so we decided to hike to the top for perspective.

Hey, there’s a cave… why do all these little brown balls have fur and bones in them?

The top.

This rock is far too moss covered to hold paint.

This one looks better. It kind of has a cave shape..?

Now we’re talking. This looks like the perfect place to paint on a rock. Maybe even a good place to put the sweat lodge.

Don’t get too close to this fellow.

I think we have a winner. Although not much of a cave.

Just below this wall of art is a small hollow ground out in a rock. We are told it was used to grind seed for flour.

Our hidden treasure.
