Snowflake Parade at Last!

This thing was supposed to be done for the parade last year...

This thing is a Harley Davidson golf cart. It was turned into a fire engine probably 20 years ago by some of the guys of the time. The design meant well, but the whole thing was plywood and basically looked like a coffin on wheels. I think my captain said some thing like, "I hope you know what you're doing..." when I convinced him to let me cut the frame in half after we demolished the body. It is approx. 3 feet longer now and is running honda civic wheels and tires instead of the small golf cart tires. The steel place in town donated the steel and we started from scratch. The guys on my shift helped out quite a bit, but I was a little burnt out on it after the fabrication phase.

Luckily one of the other guys at work talked a few local businesses into finishing the paint, LineX, and striping. I managed to get the siren and some of the lighting mounted today. Another guy is working on the batteries and charging system. We hope to finish up the wood-inlay bed and seat later this week. I figured it was finally finished enough to show off a little. I think A1 (my shift/station) can be proud of it for another 20 years now.

Probably could drive it if I wanted, but I don't know if I want to that bad. We will see.
