Coal...I miss you...

This post is named for the phrase that I just called out to Cole (who is in the living room) from our brand-new office, which is where I am.Do you know what this is? This is the room that I have hated for 2 years. It is the room that I gave up to being the boy room because I was so sick of even seeing it that I kept the door closed at all times and only went in there to take sheets off the bed or throw things in there that I never planned on seeing again. Well, it seems that Cole has seriously rubbed off on me because I can no longer just sit around and do nothing. This means that I keep thinking of projects that I need to do around the house. Since this room was such an itch in my neat freak world, I decided to take it over. Knowing that Cole still needed a boy room for all of his hunting gear, I just decided to make it more functional and not an eyesore. This involved painting...and a lot of it.
I started painting on Friday night...alone...by myself...well, Gracie was there to keep me company. I painted all of the corners with a paintbrush, because that really is the worst part. It took me about 2-3 hours and half a gallon of paint. Saturday Cole was home and I spent all day painting with the roller, taking out 2 hours to go to his soccer game where the kids won. :) Sunday, Haley graced me with her presence and helped me to paint the pièce de résistance.
Can you see my corners compared to the normal color? Ewww.
Oh, wow. That color looks so much better than the ugly gray/purple/blue/wthwtt (what the heck were they thinking) color that Haley has named 'Dolphin'.
The painting begins...
Hi Haley!!!
Can you make lines this well? Didn't think so.
Oh wow...those lines are just so nice!
This fan was ugly. It was all white with a white shade. A little bit of spray paint, new clear shade, flipped blades, and awesome blue swirl pulls later...it's a highlight of the room.
While this project is still not complete (I have a new bedspread on the way along with drapes...and all the decorating) it is well on it's way to being a fantastic use for a room that I hated for so long. To tell you a secret...Haley and I would not have managed the stripe without Cole. We thought that maybe it just would have taken us a lot longer...but honestly, I don't even think we would have been able to make it through without him telling us we were pretty and to get out of his way. I made it up to him with pure grunt work and my sweet computer putting together skills. Hello new office.
Cole graciously took Gracie out in the boat all day so that Haley and I could complete our project...she's pretty tuckered out.Stay tuned for more photos once I decide on my decor and get all of my items.
