3 Years Together!

Yep, the time has flown by. We had big plans for our anniversary. We were heading out of town with a fancy suite waiting for us. We had big city plans and a big drive ahead of us. At the last minute it was decided that all our running around and driving the last few weeks would probably spoil our fun for our anniversary weekend. It would be much more relaxing if we stayed home and had some local fun. We would eat out, go camping, take a hike, go to the fair, and sleep in.

We went camping at Willow Lake. It is a great little lake just over the pass on hwy140. We had fun camping at the far end of the campground with nobody around. The weather wasn't great, but I managed to catch some fish while Ash slept in. We had good camping food and enjoyed a little boat excursion together. Gracie had a blast of course.

After coming home after a night of camping, Ashley made some amazing home made pizza. Stuffed crust and everything. We stuffed ourselves and went to bed with big plans to sleep in the next morning. It was nice to really sleep in without worrying that something was being neglected. Ashley decided on Niblys for brunch and I managed to mow the lawn before our hike.

Fourmile Lake marked the beginning of the Sky Lakes Wilderness trail that we would be hiking.

The trail to Squaw Lake was surrounded by small ponds and mini lakes.

It was amazing how lush and green the area was. The whole forest was carpeted in bright green ground cover.

Gracie can hold still for a photo op, contrary to popular belief.

She cannot however, walk at our pace on the trail. Where is she?

We made it to Squaw Lake and found this awesome camping spot. This area is filled with backpackers and I thought Logan would like to see what a great spot we found for him to set up when he gets to this section of the Pacific Crest Trail. The lake is just beyond the trees and there were a couple really level spots for tenting.

Gracie has one goal in life. Occupy every body of water that she comes in contact with. Mark Squaw Lake off the list.

Luckily our weekend together isn't over. We are headed to church this morning, the fair this afternoon, and youth group this evening. I am really glad we decided to stay local this time. It is much more relaxing.

Stay at(near)home vacation - they can be the best ones.
